Tabloid Project
What is it that makes those glossy magazines in the checkout line at the grocery store so fascinating? Is it the scandalous headlines? The over-dramatic photographs? Or do they satisfy our curiosity about public figures' private lives?
Many of the qualities that draw us to tabloid journalism are also the qualities that have drawn generations of readers, actors, and theatergoers to Romeo and Juliet. For this project, students will create a tabloid magazine chronicling the events of the play.
Below you will find the overview of this assignment. Students will not be required to hand in their work until after we have completed our reading of the play, but may choose to begin their planning process earlier.
